Data sovereignty as a success factor for digital ecosystems
Innovation in business ecosystems is increasingly taking place through the cross-company exchange of data. When providing data, however, producers and data owners are often at risk of losing control of the strategic value of their data resources. The consequence of this is that the sharing of data to date is limited and thus the potential of data ecosystems remain unused. The International Data Spaces address this cross-industry conflict by enabling data sharing while protecting data sovereignty and aim to create a secure data room that enables businesses of all types and sizes to manage their assets with confidence.
As part of the International Data Spaces initiative, the Fraunhofer Academy and the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Technology ISST offer the seminars »Basic Seminar Data Sovereignty and International Data Space».
The European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) is the main event of the European Big Data and Data-Driven AI Research and Innovation community.
In 2017 the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and the European Commission (DG CNECT) joined forces to create this event fusion of the former EDF (European Data Forum) and the BDVA Summit. In its first edition in 2017 the EBDVF was held in Versailles, France, and it was co-organised by the BDVA, the European Commission and INRIA, a local organizing BDVA member company. 900 participants and 40+ sponsors join the events focused on “Trusted AI on Smart Industry”.

The Digital Summit and its ongoing process during the year are the central platform for cooperation between politics, business, science and society in shaping digital change. The potentials offered by digitisation for economy and society can most easily be exploited if all those who are involved work together on it. Digitisation does not only encompass telecommunications technology, but also ranges from cultural and creative domains to Industry 4.0.
The next Digital Summit will take place on October 28th and 29th, 2019 in Dortmund. This year's summit will focus on digital platforms.
This is precisely why we are proud to be contributing to the Digital Summit together with the two Dortmund Fraunhofer Institutes ISST and IML.
More details will soon be published here: www.de.digital
