Data sovereignty as a success factor for digital ecosystems

Innovation in business ecosystems is increasingly taking place through the cross-company exchange of data. When providing data, however, producers and data owners are often at risk of losing control of the strategic value of their data resources. The consequence of this is that the sharing of data to date is limited and thus the potential of data ecosystems remain unused. The International Data Spaces address this cross-industry conflict by enabling data sharing while protecting data sovereignty and aim to create a secure data room that enables businesses of all types and sizes to manage their assets with confidence.

As part of the International Data Spaces initiative, the Fraunhofer Academy and the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Technology ISST offer the seminars »Basic Seminar Data Sovereignty and International Data Space».

European Research and Innovation Days @ Kanal - Centre Pompidou, Brussels

Register for one of the three main components of the European Research and Innovation Days: the high-level Policy Conference, the Innovative Europe Hub and the ‘Science is Wonderful’ exhibition of EU-funded projects.

Let’s debate

Thought-provoking debates on what research and innovation can do to tackle global challenges.

An interactive way to engage policymakers, scientists, innovators, and other stakeholders.

Let’s solve

Workshop sessions inviting research and innovation practitioners from around the world to discuss and co-design solutions to deliver the next great transition to a sustainable and prosperous economy, society, and planet.

Let’s innovate

Brokerage spaces, pitch sessions and labs for the inventors, investors, and entrepreneurs that make European Science Technology so dynamic.

Participants will collaborate across polices, setting the direction, spurring innovation, triggering investment, and mobilising citizens.

It is also a great opportunity to network, share best practices and knowledge.

Let’s showcase

Free and open to everybody, the 'Science is Wonderful!' exhibition is a celebration of the very best research and innovation Europe has to offer, from light-bulb moments to game-changing new technologies.

Through hands-on experiments and face-to-face chats with researchers, visitors will learn about fighting cancer, global warming, hunger and drought, among many other pressing issues in our daily lives.

Digital Summit @ Dortmund

The Digital Summit and its ongoing process during the year are the central platform for cooperation between politics, business, science and society in shaping digital change. The potentials offered by digitisation for economy and society can most easily be exploited if all those who are involved work together on it. Digitisation does not only encompass telecommunications technology, but also ranges from cultural and creative domains to Industry 4.0.

The next Digital Summit will take place on October 28th and 29th, 2019 in Dortmund. This year's summit will focus on digital platforms.

This is precisely why we are proud to be contributing to the Digital Summit together with the two Dortmund Fraunhofer Institutes ISST and IML.
